Mighty Aldebaran

Finding this beautiful large classic frame was the starting gun for making the ” Classic modern” series Combining modern works on canvas with classic frames was something which had been on my mind for a longer time. I came up with this seeing a work made by Kees van Dongen. A stunning bright coloured work of a lady in a dress. The whole was nicely framed with a gold coloured classic frame. Thsi combination really appealed to me. Behold, my first work of the series. The fun thing here is that the work itself looks much more dynamic than the frame. The graceful black and white lines together with the bright yellow and red appear to dance across the canvas. The frame on the other hand, looks calm and laid back.
