Eta Carinae, a star, a hypergiant, an abstract object. So distant, we will never be able to see it up close. How different with this work. The red and yellow do have a magic and inpredictable appearance – like it could come into motion any moment. Together with the black and white it gives a cool contrast.
Eta Carinae, a star, a hypergiant, an abstract object. So distant, we will never be able to see it up close. This elusiveness fascinates me. Together with the unimaginable scale of many of these distant objects this provides me with lots of inspiration to create new work. This painting is named after a star called Eta Carinae. Many of my paintings have been named after well known and less known celestial bodies and other objects found in the universe. Besides painting this is my other passion; the universe and everything in it. To be able to combine both is something really wonderful for me. For any questions about this painting feel free to get in touch.
