Being a dynamic person, it might not come as a surprise that my work is, too.

I am Bas Bongers, aka Babo

Being able to share my work with you, brings me great joy and pleasure. It probably is your love for arts that has brought you here,

to my contemporary world that is Babo Arts.

Let’s dive into my wonderfull world full of colour and energy.

On your quest for a work of art, you have found the right place to succeed

Bas Bongers

Who is Babo?

BaBo, a contraction of the first 2 letters of my first, and last name. Thought up by a classmate back in the days, it sounds much better. In particular for a contemporary artist – which, at that point, i certainly was not. Never would have thought the name would stick.

As a starting artist, I went on an artistic journey into the world of abstract and modern arts. I wanted to find my own style by experimenting with the styles and techniques of my favourite artists: Jackson Pollock (all time favourite) Gerhard Richter, Basquiat. Also Dutch artist Mondriaan has given me inspiration, as well as UK famous contemporary artist Ian Davenport.

I found out, by trial and error, that by combining the styles and or techniques of different artists, the results were truly beautiful. It radiates energy

and dynamism. Just as i like it.

Another source of inspiration of me is the universe. The sheer fastness of it, the infinite ammount of stars and other strange objects like quasars, and simply the beauty of it. just look at the Hubble photos and you will probably feel the same.

The combination of all the things mentioned above, makes for my very own dynamc and energetic sttyle.

Harmony in colour and form

Entropy and equilibrium

The interaction of colours, the combinations of different styles. My work describes as vybrant and dynamic. Despite the apparent entropy, you soon see and feel the work is in balance. Everything works together to form a whole. A finished work in which colours and form merge together to form a unique work of modern art.

The use different types of paint and techniques, enables me to present you with this great variety of work in different styles. My curiosity of dicovering all the posibilities that art still has to offer keeps me curious and creative.

Reviews of my work

“Dynamic, energetic and powerful would best describe the work of the prolific Dutch artist Bas Bongers. His relentless approach to perfecting his craft and his passion for evolving his creative practice is both inspiring and humbling. It was an honour to feature Bas’ work in Curatorial Volume.1, Leaders in Contemporary art, and I look forward to paying close attention to the development of his artistic career.”

Kayle Whitham
